I started out my evening in Long Beach at the Gaslamp Bar where the Killer Queens-- the world's only all female Queen Tribute Band, were bringing the house down. Packed to the gills, I threaded my way through patrons to get a front row seat to lead singer Nina Noir belting out Queen hits with Mercury- style mega talent and flamboyance. Queen was remarkable because they were larger than life. They careened from operatic melodies to prog rock to funk and beyond. Queen had energy and life and charisma-- the Killer Queens pick up right where the originals left and treat the material with both reverence and elation. Never before have I witnessed a crowd so willing to sing along and participate in a show. Killer Queens for the win! Check them out wherever you can!
