Living up to a namesake can be a tough thing. Inevitably it's the first thing people talk about when they make the connection. Here I am doing it myself. However, when you actually beat the odds, and silence the mouths of those who constantly compare, speechlessness is just as welcome as a stadium of applause.
Duane Betts, son of Dickey Betts, grew up traveling on the road with the Allman Brothers.
(I'm partial to Whipping Post myself, but who the hell isn't?) This musical education provided Duane with the chops he needed to create his own style of music. Sketches of American Music takes the roots of Americana and plants them firmly in between rows of folk, southern rock, and as always, that dazzling electric guitar.
